SRS offers complete custom Rotary Timing Valve (RTV) and Rotary Union engineering and complete manufacturing services. Custom assemblies can be designed for a variety of applications; slight modifications of standard units to fully customized units. Numerous material, seal and bearing types can be utilized, depending on the application requirements.
Tool Pallette
Designed in accordance to U.S. government specifications, this 4-passage stainless steel rotating union is a central component of a dynamic flight simulator. The hollow bore union slips over the end of a 4" shaft and was designed to allow passage of multiple media at different operational pressures (25-350 PSI) while revolving at 40 RPM. Teflon U-cup seals are used to seal the individual 3/8" diameter media passages, which transport air, water, and a water glycol mix. This unit is over 21" long and 10" in diameter.
SRS engineers worked in conjunction with the customer's designers in order to simplify complex controls on a multi stage assembly line. This anodized aluminum Rotary Timing Valve handles both 80 PSI air and vacuum @ 27" Hg, while it rotates @ 75 RPM. The 5 circuit/ 4 station RTV® has ISO-228 1/8G ports. This particular design also incorporates torque control adjustment springs that maintain constant pressure against the face seal. This custom Rotary Timing Valve was designed for use in the cosmetics industry.
Originally beginning with a standard RTV® model (AV-402) timing sequence, the internal sealing components were re-engineered to allow for higher operating pressures. This anodized aluminum Rotary Timing Valve supplies air at 220 PSI and indexes at 1 RPM to 6 different stations. This unit is used in the machine tool industry on a rotary table in a honing process.
This hollow bore union fits over a 10-1/2" shaft and is 10-1/2" long. The assembly is constructed of anodized aluminum with Viton seals. This supplies dry air at 180 RPM with intermittent stops. There are 5 ports with internal air barrier. This unit was designed for a major tire and rubber manufacturer.
Designed to fit over a 3-3/4" shaft, the union is 10-3/4" long. The assembly is constructed of anodized aluminum with Viton dynamic and static seals. This unit has six 1/2" NPT ports that supply air at 20-130 PSI and vacuum at 20" Hg into the customer's center shaft at 1-188 RPM with intermittent stops. Again this unit was designed for a major tire and rubber manufacturer.
Due to exposure to iron oxide dust, this union was constructed of stainless steel. Additional outer seals were installed to protect internal components of the assembly. The union is 17-1/2" long with 10-1/2" flange. The ten ports are sealed with a piston ring seal and have an internal drain. The unit transfers hydraulic oil at 1,000 PSI and rotates at 4 RPM. This rotating union was custom designed for use in the transportation of petroleum by-products by rail.
This Rotary Timing Valve is constructed of anodized aluminum. There are two separate levels of control (circuits) that supply regulated air at 80 PSI to 8 stations on a rotary table indexing at 15 RPM. On/off airflow makes it possible to clamp or eject parts at a predefined location in the process. This was custom designed for use in the plastic molding industry.
Constructed of 303 stainless steel with Viton seals, this rotating union is 4-1/2" long and has a 3" diameter flange. This rotating union was custom designed to transfer 3000 PSI nitrogen from one rotating inlet to six stationary outlets at 10 RPM. This unit is used in the Consumer Goods industry making plastic bottle caps.
This large rotary union is used to transfer cooling fluid to an antenna. Constructed of 316 stainless steel with 150 lb. weld neck flanges. There are four ports (2) 2" & (2) 4" for supply & return. This unit is over 29" long and 16" in diameter.
This custom design union was made for testing product durability. Rotational speeds ramp up to 6000 rpm for about two minutes. When the union is idle 500 psi air is introduced through the union to the product. This union shows a 4.5 inch hollow bore. We can accommodate most sized shafts.
